Garage Sale Find

Today was a great day for going to garage sales. I found this lamp for $30. The shade is all stain glass. Also found a bunch of quilt magazines for .10 each and computer tower for 5.00. The computer tower is in the shop for diagnostics. If can get working will be a computer for crafting programs only.

Chevron Scraf in Progess

Just joined Ravelry Community and found idea for this scraf. The pattern is in "Last-Minute Knitted Gifts" by Joelle Hoverson. I used a cheaper yarn by Patons and did not do any color changes but it is going fast and I like the look.

Flower art quilt

I just got a floral instructional DVD from: http://www.quiltingarts.com/shop/QuiltingArtsWorkshopDVDs.html and wanted to try some of these techniques. I made a small mixed media art quilt from some sun dyed fabric that I had. The sun dying was done from a kit that I found at Micheals. The fabric was also stamped with a fern stamp. The flowers were created with bits of fibers and trims. Tulle was placed over flowers before quilting. See DVD for full instructions. I will also add some embroidered butterflies in the next couple of days.

Paper bag Book

This is my start at a paper bag book that I started a while ago and plan to finsh in the near future using some cricut cutouts as well as other techniques. This little book is truly mixed media. The binding of the book is actually cooper tape used to hold pipes, etc. The cover is covered with old pattern pieces and pattern envelope pieces. Old letter tiles, a knob are other elements used on the cover. Inside the journal quilting scrap pieces and embroidery "trials" are used for the pockets. The butterfly tag has a baby picture of me and is transferred to clay using tape transfer.

Knitted wire and beaded Necklace

Remember spool knitting: I walked into a local bead shop and found necklaces created with spool knitting and wire so I decided to try one. I completed it in one evening. First beads were strung on a roll of 26 teal craft wire and then knitted with the spool knitted every couple of stitches. I first started with only 1-2 bead every few stitches and ended the same way.
